I Tried a New Plant Protein! / Thank You All!

     If you are plant based do you find getting a variety of protein difficult? I sometimes struggle to get it right so when I find something new I definitely want to share! So I was given golden split peas, which I never had before so they sat in my cabinet for about two months. Finally decided to cook them thinking they should be like lentils but no they are not. Watch my YouTube video by clicking the link above to see a more detailed description! In the end even though I loooovvvveeee my lentils, these have more protein! That’s major because lentils have a good amount so I was pleasantly surprised and as always once seasoning was added they were hardy and tasty! When Buying Clearance…

 

     I so enjoy getting a good price on food! I just feel so warm and fuzzy like being wrapped in flannel 😂 when it comes to clearance food! So here are a few tips I look for to get a good deal:

1) Price ratio. What is the original price compared to the clearance price? For me it needs to be at least a .30 cent discount or more before I go to step 2

2) Quality Check. Does the quality of the product have enough “life” in it that I either 1) need to cook it the same day or 2) I can freeze it or at minimum eat it in a week and it’s still fresh. 

3)Category. Is this deal an item I like, am trying new, need or just can’t resist the discount? Asking this question is almost more important than anything, because it’s very easy to get caught up in a discount more than you may want or need a product. 

The key is to get great items at good prices to save money yet enjoy the food too, Happy Eating!

Don’t be Stressed, You Got This!

     Have you had a gathering where some people eat everything and others are meatless? It can be difficult because you want everyone to be happy and satisfied! Check out my YouTube video above for a simple yet tasty meal that everyone enjoyed. 

     The basics I stand by are don’t change your normal 100% just adjust, take out or substitute. For this meal both had the same dish, I only added meat to one. That way no one feels left out or totally singled out. I also noticed the meat eaters eating the meatless dish just to see if there was a major difference 😂 

   So don’t stress, cook your dish with the base being vegetables then divide it in half and add meat to one!

August Green Juice Reset! Have you did it?

     Healthy body, healthy mind right? Every month I get in a green drink, and recently daily I am drinking about a half cup. So can I say it makes a difference in my life? Yes and no! Last month I got lazy and bought bottled green juice and I did have a bit more energy but… that’s about it and I was looking for something more. The last two weeks I went back to making my own ( go to my link above for this month’s juice) and by day 5-6 I could tell my overall was better but… I have also been doing more stretching! So YES I think the green juice because it’s raw along with some kind of movement is a great combination to improve your healthy mind and body, Happy Eating!

Have You Tried This Nut Butter?

     For a change I went to Sprouts Farmers Market! I only needed a few things and as I passed by noticed it was not busy so figured it was the best time to shop and browse around. My agenda was simple get this, get that and my usual almond butter. I had downloaded the app and had a coupon, so I thought I would get a deal, well, the brand was to high for my liking so the search was on! What kind of almond butter should I get… Well it ended up to be none, I didn’t like any of the prices ( thus probably why I had not been back in awhile). Nevertheless, something yellow and cheaper caught my eye… Sprouts has there own nut butter in what? Sunflower! Never heard anyone talk about this or knew it existed! So then I had to try to remember when was the last time I even ate sunflower seeds? If this is nasty can I take eating it anyway with my no waste, or very little waste self imposed policy? It was a concerning moment seeing late work traffic was building and I was not going to another store! So….

     I bought it! Now first taste took me back, it had a layer of separated oil that I think I didn’t mix well so it was a strong flavor. So I mixed it more, then it tasted just like sunflower seeds a little salty and sweet. It blends very well for those who like grape jelly/jam!
